In the real endless forest again.. [edit] HOLY SHIT

dustin and i went to the forest again last night, and we got the nightlights scared out of us! we went there at midnight, and hung out on the cliff above the crater for awhile and had a smoke. then we went down and old abandoned racetrack towards a small creek we would have to cross, and i was talking, and suddenly he froze. i stopped talking and then i heard footsteps. it wasn't a deer (we dont think so) because it sounded very heavy and didnt pick up its feet when it walked. leaves rustles and twigs snapped. we thought it was a person at first because it sounded like it was on two legs, but it walked a little from our right to our left just in front of us and stopped. dustin thought he saw the mass of the creature, and it wasn't very tall. we heard it start to walk towards us and we both whipped out our knives and stayed as silent as possible. the we heard it walk more to the left, and then suddenly we didn't hear it at all. we waited a bit, but there wasn't any more noise. we changed our route and took a steep quarry down away from that patch of trees.

but whatever it was got so CLOSE to us! now that i think about it, the size of the mass and the weight of the footsteps it could have been a mountain lion or something (but i dont think those live around here!)

but hearing that at 1AM scared us witless.

I am so glad my Field Bio Lab class didn't come across anything when we went into the backwoods on campus. Granted, this was at 8am, but still... O_o;

Lolz, its sounds funny. But I know it would have been really creepy. Dude, if that was a mountain lion you'd get your butt kicked, if not bitten off. Mountain lions are vicious, most of them are crazy. They don't hesitate to attack and for no reason. By the way you describe it it sounds much like a bear. Bears stand on two legs, they wouldn't attack right off the bat. They only attack if you're threatening them or something they hold dear to them. But god, if that had been a mountain lion you'd be dead. Seriously though, :P why go out at 1:00 AM?????? You guys are a bunch of wierdies

lol we are definitely a bunch of wierdies! we always go to the forest at night. i doubt it was a bear though, there was a cougar sighted on that very road we were on, and ive never heard anything about bears. cougars wouldnt attack for no reason. if theyre sick and cant catch other prey, or if youre crouched down and look like a four legged animal, they might. any loud noise would probably scare them away though.

ive only been to that forest once during the day, and thats when i got the pictures in the other thread X)
